The Automotive Rain Test Chamber is a fully integrated, large-scale testing solution designed to simulate real-world rainfall conditions for complete vehicle waterproof performance evaluation. Engineered with a robust structure and advanced spray system, it ensures precise, uniform, and repeatable testing for automotive OEMs, R&D centers, and quality inspection laboratories.

This one-piece chamber features a front-to-rear testing workflow: vehicles enter through the front door, undergo a 7-meter rain spray section, and then pass through a 5-meter drainage and drying zone where high-pressure air guns efficiently remove residual water before exiting from the rear. This streamlined layout enables continuous vehicle testing and significantly improves inspection efficiency.

The spray system adopts a negative-pressure water storage design combined with a high-performance pump, solenoid valve control, stainless-steel pipelines, and fully adjustable PP nozzles. The top, front, and rear spray arrays can be adjusted to fit different vehicle sizes, ensuring complete water coverage without blind spots. Each branch line and main line is equipped with pressure gauges and flow meters to guarantee accurate rainfall intensity in accordance with QC/T 476-2007 standards.

The chamber also features a dedicated high-pressure air blowing system with multiple outlets that rapidly removes water from the vehicle surface. The ground drainage grid efficiently collects and recycles water through the filtration and treatment system, enabling long-term, sustainable operation.

To ensure reliable long-term testing, the chamber integrates multiple safety functions, including water-level alarms, guided limit alarms, and overpressure protection.

Spray direction

The vehicle's left and right sides, top, bottom, front, and rear—a total of six surfaces.

The top and bottom nozzle axes are perpendicular to the horizontal plane, the front and rear nozzle axes are parallel to the vehicle's longitudinal symmetry plane, and the side nozzle axes are perpendicular to the vehicle's longitudinal symmetry plane.

Distance between nozzle and vehicle The bottom nozzle is located 200mm below the ground and is fixed in position. Other nozzles are located 700±200mm from the vehicle's exterior. Branch pipes for each nozzle installation are modularly fixed to the bracket. The distance between the spray mechanism and the vehicle's exterior can be adjusted on all surfaces, except the bottom and two sides, to meet standard requirements and accommodate different vehicle sizes.

Spray mechanism pipeline

Pressure gauges and flow meters must be installed on each branch pipe and main pipe. Rainfall intensity must comply with the national standard QC/T 476-2007. Flow meters must be high-quality, domestically produced. The installation locations of flow meters and pressure gauges must comply with national standards, and the pressure gauge range and accuracy must meet the control plan and process requirements.

 

Each branch pipe must have a drain outlet at the end and a plug installed to ensure a tight seal. The plug should be made of SUS304 stainless steel.

Water supply and circulation system

1) A vacuum tank (SUS304 stainless steel) is installed at the spray pump inlet. A return pipe is installed at the outlet to regulate the spray pump outlet pressure. A bag filter with a filtration accuracy of 200 microns is also installed.

2) Both the spray pump and the sewage pump in the water supply and drainage piping are reputable brands. One spray pump is used, and one is a backup. The sewage pump has a discharge capacity of at least 15 m³/h.

3) Test water is returned from the floor sink in the spray room or the drain section to the sedimentation tank. After secondary filtration, it is transferred to the reservoir, where it is pumped to the spray mechanism. The reservoir is also connected to an external water replenishment system. If the water level falls below the required level, continuous replenishment is required. The sedimentation tank should be cleaned regularly, and the water in the reservoir should be regularly replaced. The water level is automatically controlled by the system based on a water level monitoring device, and an alarm will be issued in the event of water shortage.
